HOW A FACE LIFT CAN HELP RESTORE YOUR DEFINITION AND CONTOURS

As you age, the condition of your skin starts to change. Wrinkles and fine lines begin to appear as your skin loses its elasticity. A facelift can help you reduce the signs of aging and offer you natural-looking results. At Feldmar Aesthetics, we offer a patient-focused experience to provide your desired results.

Dr. David Feldmar, a board-certified plastic surgeon, will make sure you know how to prepare for your surgery, guide you through the process so that you understand what is involved, and support you through your recovery period so that you achieve optimal results in the shortest possible time. If you want to find out more about rhytidectomy and how it can benefit your skin, call us to schedule a consultation.

What Is a Facelift?

Rhytidectomy is a surgical procedure that effectively reduces the signs of aging by rearranging muscle, tissue, fat, and skin on your face. It can alter the appearance of your face by changing your facial contours. This results in a firmer, more defined appearance. A facelift can also significantly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin by tightening the skin on your face.

The process involves lifting the skin on your face to rearrange and reposition the facial structures underneath your skin to give your face definition. The muscle and fat beneath your skin are tightened to tone your facial structures. If there is any excess fat, we will remove it with liposuction.

What Does a Facelift Treat?

facelift procedure targets the most common signs of aging, such as cheek and jaw jowls, fallen fat, wrinkles, volume loss, excess skin, excess fat under the chin, sagging skin, and facial depressions. Rhytidectomy is not only for older people. If you are younger and experiencing similar skin concerns, a facelift is a suitable procedure for you.

It is important to note that a facelift can’t change your overall appearance. Instead, it aims to treat certain areas of your face and improve the overall health of your skin.

The Facelift Procedure

As you age, the shape of your face changes. Rhytidectomy restores the definition and contours of your face, leaving you with a more youthful shape.

During your facelift surgery, a flap of skin on either side of your face is lifted and pulled back. This allows us to alter the tissue and muscle beneath the skin and move, remove, or sculpt any excess fat if necessary. Your skin is then re-draped over your newly positioned contours.

We then tape or stitch incisions and remove any excess skin. Incisions are then closed with bandages that apply gentle pressure on your face. We will also insert a small drainage tube, usually below your ears, to drain any excess blood or fluid from the treated area.

Types of Facelifts

There are many types of facelift procedures. Each one involves different incisions and targets different skin concerns. Before you decide which procedure is best suited for you, you will need to schedule a consultation with us to discuss your skin concerns and desired goals.

During this consultation, we will also review your medical history and conduct a physical examination. With this information, we can determine your suitability for a facelift and decide which procedure will give you the best results.

Mini Facelift

A mini facelift is less invasive than a typical facelift. We use shorter incisions, which results in a shorter recovery period and less scarring.

Before we begin the procedure, we administer local anesthesia with a variable degree of sedation. The results you achieve with a mini facelift are long-lasting and natural-looking.

Deep Plane Facelift

A deep place facelift procedure addresses your mid-face area. It tightens sagging or loose skin, replaces tissue, and restores volume loss to your face.

A deep place facelift is more advanced than traditional facelift surgery, and the results you achieve are natural-looking. This means that your face won’t be left without expression.

Full Facelift

If you want to address multiple areas of concern on your face with one surgical procedure, a full facelift is perfect for you. We make incisions behind your ears to hide any scarring.

A full facelift can address your lips, lower face, neck, lower eyelids, upper eyelids, and forehead. The results you achieve are natural-looking and will last for many years.

Recovery

Following your facelift surgery, you will have bandages around your face to support your new contours and facial structure. You must arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery and stay with you for a few days to assist with certain daily tasks that may be difficult during your recovery period.

We will remove your drainage tubes 24 hours after surgery, and a few follow-up appointments will be necessary over the next two months to track your progress and monitor your healing. Once your wounds have almost completely healed, we will provide a facial sling to support your new facial contours and structure during the rest of your recovery period.

We will provide detailed instructions on how to care for yourself to ensure a speedy and successful recovery, so you can start enjoying the results of your surgery.
