EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO CONSIDER BEFORE BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY

One of the most popular cosmetic surgeries throughout America is breast augmentation. Women may choose to have breast augmentation when they want a more flattering bust size or a more shapely figure overall. This is because breast augmentation is an effective way to increase your breast size and give your breasts a rounder, more youthful shape.

At Feldmar Aesthetics, we perform a variety of breast augmentation procedures for clients from Beverly Hills and surrounding cities. If you are interested in breast augmentation treatment, here is everything you need to consider before the procedure.

What Is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a plastic surgical procedure that aims to enhance the appearance of your breasts. This procedure is used to create a larger bust size while improving the shape of your breasts. Typically, breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia and requires a mild to moderate recovery process afterward, depending on the type of augmentation that you have.

Things to Consider Before Your Breast Augmentation

Before seeking breast augmentation, there are several different things to consider. From your desired outcome to what your recovery process will be like, the following are just a few factors you should think about before your breast augmentation:

How Much of an Enhancement Are You Looking For?

The first thing to consider when looking into breast augmentation is the type of results you expect. What is it you are trying to change about your breasts?

For example, if you are looking to increase your bust size and improve the overall shape, then breast augmentation can be the right option. On the other hand, if you are looking to lift your breasts into a higher position, then you may need breast augmentation along with a breast lift.

You should also consider how much larger you want your breasts to be, as this will impact the type of breast augmentation you can have.

What Type of Breast Augmentation Will You Have?

Once you have determined what you want your breasts to look like, you can figure out which type of breast augmentation would be the best fit. Ideally, you should discuss this with a cosmetic surgeon who can give you all the information that you need on each type of procedure.

During a consultation appointment, your surgeon will evaluate your current figure and go over your desired results to design a personalized treatment plan that includes one of the following breast augmentation surgeries:

Breast Augmentation With Implants

The most common type of breast augmentation is augmentation with implants. This can be performed with either silicone or saline implants, depending on the results you are looking for. Silicone implants more closely resemble natural breast tissue, while saline implants have a rounder, perkier shape.

A silicone implant comprises an outer silicone shell that is placed under the skin while still empty. Once in the perfect position, it is filled with saline to the desired size. Saline implants are made entirely of saline and are placed under the skin as a whole implant of a predetermined size.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

If you want a more subtle enhancement without the use of implants, you may be interested in autologous breast augmentation. Also known as natural breast augmentation, this type of procedure uses your body’s fat cells to increase the size of your breasts.

Using liposuction treatment, small amounts of fat are harvested from the stomach, thighs, or buttocks and then transferred into the breasts. Fat transfer breast augmentation is a great option for clients who want to give their busts a slight increase in size while removing excess fat from their problem areas.

Breast Lift and Augmentation

Many women wish to increase the size of their breasts while also lifting them into a higher position. This calls for a combination procedure of breast lift and augmentation at the same time.

During the breast lift portion, any excess or sagging skin will be removed, and the breasts will be lifted upwards into a higher placement. An implant or harvested fat can then be inserted into the breasts to create a larger size.

Breast lifts with augmentation are a good choice for women who have seen their breasts move into a lower position with the aging process or after childbirth. They can also be used on patients who previously lost a significant amount of weight and were left with empty, sagging breast tissue.

What Is Breast Augmentation Recovery Like?

Breast augmentation procedures all involve a recovery process, but your recovery will vary according to the type of augmentation that you have. For instance, fat transfer augmentation can be slightly more extensive because of the combined liposuction treatment.

Most breast augmentation procedures will involve a two- to four-week recovery process. During this time, you will need to avoid strenuous activities or intense exercise. You should also avoid heavy lifting and any activity that puts direct pressure on your chest.

Additionally, you may be asked to wear a compression garment around your chest for several days to weeks after your procedure. This promotes optimal healing and reduces any swelling around the surgical site.
