Breast Lift in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, CA
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is surgery to raise and reshape sagging breasts. It’s a common problem for many women, and breast lift surgery is one of the most popular and effective cosmetic procedures. Some women experience drooping breasts after pregnancy or weight changes. For others, sagging is simply part of the aging process. Still others are unhappy with the shape and projection of their breasts. A breast lift reshapes your breasts to give them a rounder, more uplifted form.
A breast lift procedure, by itself, won’t increase the size of your breasts. For that, a breast lift with implants is the solution. This procedure combines a breast lift with breast augmentation to correct sagging and enhance breast size.

Why You Might Consider a Breast Lift in Beverly Hills with Dr. Feldmar
The shape and projection of your breasts can affect your self-image and confidence. Sagging or flattened breasts can make you feel older or less attractive.
You might have drooping or deflated breasts from any of several causes, including:
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Significant weight loss
- The effects of aging
- Genetics, which can cause naturally drooping breasts from puberty
- Large breast implants, which can stretch breast tissue and increase the unwanted effects of gravity
Whatever the cause, a breast lift can restore a rounded and uplifted breast profile that is attractive and younger-looking.
Planning Your Los Angeles Breast Lift Procedure
Breast lift surgery is a very personal experience, and the specifics of each procedure are tailored to the unique features and wishes of the patient. Dr. Feldmar places great importance on patient-doctor communication, particularly in planning the surgery. In your breast lift consultation, Dr. Feldmar will ask questions to understand the changes you want and encourage you to ask as many questions as necessary. He will examine you to assess the elasticity of your skin, extent of drooping, nipple position, and volume and distribution of your breast tissue. Your conversation, together with his examination, will allow him to decide the amount of lift required for optimal results. He will explain the surgical approach he recommends and what you can expect throughout the process.
Dr. Feldmar’s goal, and the goal of everyone at Feldmar Aesthetics, is to help you make informed decisions, have realistic expectations, and feel comfortable through each step in your breast lift experience.
A breast lift can:
- Correct sagging breasts
- Improve breast shape, making them appear fuller and rounder
- Reposition nipples that point downward or fall below the breast crease
- Reduce the size of stretched areolas
- Correct breast asymmetry
- Increase your self-confidence and self-esteem
It’s important to note that while a breast lift can make the breasts appear rounder and fuller, the procedure doesn’t alter breast volume. Many women combine a breast lift with breast augmentation or breast reduction to bring the size of their breasts into better balance with the rest of their body. In your consultation with Dr. Feldmar, he can help you understand whether a combination of procedures will help you achieve the results you’re looking for.
Are You a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?
In your breast lift consultation, Dr. Feldmar will ask questions to understand your medical history and the changes you hope to make. Based on your conversation and his examination, he will tell you whether a breast lift is an appropriate and safe option for you.
You are probably a good candidate if you:
- Are unhappy with the shape and appearance of your breasts due to sagging
- Are in generally good health with no medical conditions that increase your risks
- Are not significantly overweight
- Do not smoke, or are able to quit smoking for several weeks before and after surgery
- Have realistic expectations for the results
It’s best to wait until you are done having children before planning breast lift surgery as pregnancy and breastfeeding can lead to changes in breast appearance. If you do plan to have children after your breast lift procedure, be sure to discuss this in your breast lift consultation.

How Is Breast Lift Surgery Performed?
Breast lift surgery is performed in our state-of-the-art Swall Surgery Center in Beverly Hills, designed and built to our specifications to provide safe, high-quality, personalized patient care. Breast lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, using general anesthesia.
Most breast lift procedures take between one and a half and two hours, or up to three hours if the procedure is combined with breast augmentation or breast reduction. After the planned changes have been made, the incisions are closed, and the procedure is complete. When you have recovered from the anesthesia, you can go home. You’ll need to arrange ahead of time to have a friend or family member drive you and stay with you for at least the first night.
In the procedure, Dr. Feldmar will make incisions to remove excess skin and reposition breast tissue. Depending on the changes required, he will take one of four approaches to incision location.
In a peri-areolar or “donut” lift, an incision is made in a full circle around the edge of the areola. This enables the surgeon to reduce the size of a stretched areola and correct mild breast sagging. A peri-areolar or “donut” lift may be used when a breast lift is combined with breast augmentation.
In a vertical or “lollipop” lift, one incision is made in a circle around the edge of the areola and a second is made in a straight line from the bottom edge of the areola to the center of the crease below the breast (the inframammary fold). This approach is used to correct moderate breast sagging and make improvements to areola size and nipple orientation.
In a crescent lift, an incision is made along the top edge of the areola. This enables the surgeon to raise the nipple and turn it upward without making significant changes to breast shape. A crescent lift may be used when the breasts do not show significant sagging, but the nipple is turned downward. A crescent lift may also be used when a breast lift is combined with breast augmentation.
In an inverted T or “anchor” lift, three incisions are made: one around the edge of the areola, another in a vertical line from the bottom edge of the areola to the center of the crease below the breast, and a third along the curve of the crease below the breast. This approach is used to correct moderate to significant breast sagging or pendulous breasts, while also enabling improvements to areola size and nipple orientation.
What to Expect During Breast Lift Recovery
Plan to rest at home for a few days after your surgery and to have someone available to help you with household tasks. You won’t be able to lift anything heavy or reach above your head for the first few days. It’s common to feel some soreness at first, but this can be managed with pain medication. You can also expect swelling. Wearing a surgical bra will help control the swelling while supporting the breasts during the healing process. Drainage tubes may be placed beneath the skin to help reduce swelling.
Dr. Feldmar will provide instructions on how to care for the wounds to prevent infection, when to return for follow-up appointments, and how to gradually resume your normal activities. Most patients are able to return to work after 5 to 7 days, or a bit longer if the job requires lifting. You can start to exercise again after about two weeks, beginning slowly and gradually building up to your regular exercise routine at about six weeks.
You’ll notice the enhancements to your breasts right away and will see the final results at about six months when all of the post-surgical swelling has disappeared.

Breast Lift FAQS in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, CA
A breast lift is often combined with breast augmentation or breast reduction to increase or decrease the size of the breasts. A breast lift can also be combined with a tummy tuck, liposuction, or other body-contouring procedures in a mommy makeover that’s tailored to your unique needs.
Breast lift cost varies based on the extent and complexity of the procedure. They include the surgeon’s fee and the costs of anesthesia, the surgical facility, medications, and garments worn after surgery. The costs of cosmetic surgery procedures, such as breast lifts, are not typically covered by medical insurance. Dr. Feldmar will explain the costs in detail during your consultation.
Dr. Feldmar will advise you to stop taking certain medications in the days leading up to the surgery to avoid interfering with healing or increase the risk of excessive bleeding. You’ll need to refrain from drinking or eating anything the night before your breast lift surgery, usually beginning at midnight. You’ll be instructed to shower with an anti-microbial soap the evening before and again the morning of the procedure.
As with any major surgery, a breast lift procedure carries some risks. These include the possibility of infection, bleeding, or an adverse reaction to the anesthesia. Dr. Feldmar will discuss breast lift risks as part of your consultation. It’s important to understand the risks before undergoing any elective surgery.
Scarring from breast lift surgery is inevitable since incisions are a necessary part of the procedure. The visibility of scars can depend on the type of lift performed, your body’s healing process, and how well you follow post-surgery care instructions. Over time, most scars fade significantly and can be concealed under swimsuits and bras.
The outcomes of a breast lift procedure are long-lasting, but they are not immune to the effects of aging and gravity. Factors such as significant weight change, pregnancy, or natural aging can alter the results. By keeping your weight stable and prioritizing staying healthy, the improvements from your breast lift can be enjoyed for many years.
It’s a great question, and I completely understand your concerns. While a breast lift can certainly provide a more youthful and lifted appearance to your breasts, it’s important to understand that no procedure can completely halt the natural aging process. Over time, factors like gravity, genetics, and lifestyle choices can contribute to some degree of sagging. However, a breast lift can significantly delay the onset of sagging, and the results can last for many years. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and wearing proper support bras can also help prolong the effects of the surgery.
The healing process is unique to each individual, but I can assure you that we take great care to minimize scarring and promote proper healing. Initially, you may experience some swelling and bruising, which typically subsides within a few weeks. The incisions themselves will gradually fade over time, and most patients find that they continue to improve for up to a year. It’s essential to follow our post-operative instructions diligently to ensure the best possible outcome.
I understand that sleeping comfortably after a breast lift can be a concern. To promote optimal healing and minimize any discomfort, I recommend sleeping on your back for the first few weeks after surgery. Using pillows to elevate your upper body slightly can also help reduce swelling and pressure on the breasts. Our team will provide specific instructions tailored to your needs during the recovery period to ensure your comfort.
Absolutely, you can still become pregnant after a breast lift. The surgery should not affect your ability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term. However, it’s essential to discuss your future family plans with your surgeon during your consultation. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can impact the results of a breast lift, so it’s advisable to plan your surgery accordingly if possible.
Yes, it is indeed possible to combine a breast lift with breast augmentation, and this combination procedure is often referred to as a “mastopexy-augmentation.” It can provide both lift and enhanced volume, offering a comprehensive solution for patients who desire both. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and assess your unique anatomy to determine if this combined approach is suitable for you. I’m here to guide you through the decision-making process and create a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your wishes and needs.
